If you are just starting out, a back is one of the first tricks you will want to learn. One of the easiest ways to learn a back (especially if you are little) is to start it outside of the wake. If you are left foot forward you will start on the driver’s wake, and if you are right foot forward you will start on the passenger’s wake.
First, you will want to start in a side slide right about where the white water is. Then, you will want to start cutting away from the boat. Doing this will allow you to turn all the way backwards very easily. The more comfortable you get the longer you will be able to hold the position. Once you get comfortable doing this, you can do it in the middle of the wake. Starting with your arms and knees slightly bent and pushing your handle around. You want your handle pushed down below your butt.
A back is worth 60 points and a front is worth 60 points.
